26 Entries Commence The 2010 Audi Melges 20 Sailing Series, Vallivero Wins Lerici

Two amazing days of racing on Lerici’s high side kicked off the 2010 Audi Melges 20 Sailing Series with Renato Vallivero on Turnover taking the win and overall lead of the four part regatta series. Brand new to the Audi Melges 20 scene is Francesco Farnetti on Reggini Sailng Team placing second. No stranger to supersonic European competition — Luca Domenici on Notaro Team was third.

This year the Audi Sailing Series is red HOT as 26 teams took to the starting line. A very special thanks to all the competitors who were able to participate. We look forward seeing everyone back for Event No. 2 in Scarlino, Italy on May 22-23 — be there! Michael Kiss Wins Charleston Race Week, Exclusive Interview

It was another incredibly successful Charleston Race Week for the Audi Melges 20 with Michael Kiss on Bacio taking top honors! In second overall was Joel Ronning on C-4 and Rob Wilber on Cinghaile finishing third. Ten — that’s right! A complete 10 race series led the 14-strong fleet around Charleston harbor with awesome breeze-on conditions and great competition. Kiss got out front on day one and stayed out front for the ultimate win. Read full interview with Michael Kiss.

Melges Rocks Detroit, June 4-6

The next stop on the 2010 USA Sailing Series is Detroit, Mich. for Sailing World Magazine’s NOOD Regatta, hosted by the Bayview Yacht Club. Traditionally, Detroit is an awesome place to sail so, now is the time to get your entry on the board. It's certain the likes of defending champ Chuck Holzman on Flyer will be back in action along with Eric Wynsma on Superfly and Marc Hollerbach on Fu. Look out for newly crowned Charleston Champion Michael Kiss on Bacio!

Jeff Ecklund Wins 2010 Audi Melges 20
Miami Winter Series Champion

Congratulations to Jeff Ecklund on STAR as he is the 2010 Audi Melges 20 Miami Winter Series Champion. Ecklund stole the show with an incredibly powerful performance winning every event within the three part regatta series. In second overall, just five points back was Eric Wynsma on Superfly and Mary Anne Ward on M & M Sailing finished third.

The Inaugural Audi Melges 20 Miami Winter Series in 2010 was a smashing success. The first event took place in mid-December (12), the second event was held in February (14) and the third (14) was in conjunction with Bacardi’s Miami Sailing Week. A very special thanks to every competitor who made the effort to join the class in Miami during the winter months. Everyone will confess, Miami is awesome, perfect winter sailing location. Expect the participation numbers to double as planning is already underway for the 2011 series. Mark your calendars and standby as details will be published soon.
